American Dream

Kiniscape is working toward producing its first ever evening length production. American Dream tells the story of young people who have grown up watching the American dream die. Choreographer Lilly Reyes is pulling largely from her personal experiences from high school through her twenties. The work will follow the emotions experienced as you go from high school feeling optimistic about the future, to post college feeling anxious, frustrated, and depressed that despite your hard work and striving to better yourself - it's still not enough and it must be your fault. After all the media is saying young people are lazy and entitled on a nonstop loop, you should feel worthless. The evening will end with a glimmer of resilience. Despite the fact that financially you are worse off than past generations were at the same age, you'll continue to live life to the fullest and prioritize living life over working.
